Our Vision ... Wholistic Massage Therapy School & Wholistic Health Practitioner Training

We incorporated as the Wholistic Life Church in 1985 in Boston, Massachusetts. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, our vision was to create a facility where we could practice and teach the highest ideals of life. Our Wholistic Massage Therapy School, that included Wholistic Health Practitioner training, became a way to experience our vision in action every day.

While in Boston and until 1991, we sponsored health and education classes, programs, and workshops.

Our Creed

I have the ultimate power within me to create and change all things for myself-

To embrace the unlimited Universe-

To love, accept, and nourish everything-

To give freely my infinite energies toward the creation of the highest levels of spiritual, mental, emotional and
physical life -

Since ALL is a reflection of myself through God

In September of 1991, we relocated to 900 acres in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of southwest Missouri where we opened our wholistic wellness center. Over our fourteen years there, we created profound and powerful healing experiences each and every day. Our guests came from across the United States, Canada and Europe and from our local community.

In Missouri, individuals from all walks of life - from infant to grandparent, mother to corporate executive, and athlete to professional musician - sought our facility. All who came through our doors were seeking help, guidance, friendship, answers and a safe place to share their dreams, their secrets and their fears. In our Center's residential programs, we guided individuals through their personal healing using nutrition, exercise, bodywork, and private and group counseling. They practiced yoga and meditation, were exposed to a variety of nature-based therapeutic modalities, and experienced the most powerful healing energy of all - the energy of unconditional love.

We served our local community through our free Wholistic Health Clinic of the Ozarks. To the residents of our four-state area, we shared the latest advances in alternative medicine and environmental ecology at our annual Wholistic Health and Environmental Expo. To individuals across the nation who were searching to create a profession in wholistic health, we offered both Wholistic Massage Therapy (650-hour) and Wholistic Health Practitioner (1150-hour) programs through our Wholistic Life Center School of Massage and Healing Therapies.

With twenty-three years of experience, we bring with us a cohesive, dedicated and visionary core faculty. Our primary goal is to educate and to share all we have found to be so helpful and fulfilling in our own lives.

In the fall of 2005, we brought the wisdom of our collective life experiences to our new location in Petaluma, California, and renamed ourselves Sky Hill Institute, a Wholistic Massage Therapy School that included Wholistic Health Practitioner training. Our unique programs and deep commitment to wholistic healing arts makes us the most experienced and comprehensive school in the San Francisco Bay Area. Just thirty minutes from San Francisco and the California coast, Sky Hill Institute offers profound educational and healing opportunities amidst both the beauty and quiet of Sonoma's wine country and coastal areas, and the excitement and culture of city life.

Mission Statement

Our purpose is to provide an environment for students, faculty and staff, and the community at large where each day's experience brings them closer to their highest self. To accomplish this, Sky Hill Institute embraces the universal concepts of life that hold true for all people. We believe that each individual inherently has all he or she needs to be happy, healthy and fulfilled. At Sky Hill Institute, we are a committed group of visionary individuals who strive each day to live the philosophy we espouse and seek to provide opportunities for others to live their highest ideals.

Wholistic versus Holistic?

Aristotle's phrase the whole is more than the sum of its parts was coined holistic holos meaning all, entire, total. We use the English word wholistic to include mind, body, spirit, emotion, lifestyle and physical/social environment as interdependent parts of the whole person.
